#DoYouRemember the New Paper Big Walk? The New Paper Big Walk is a walking event organised by The New Paper (TNP) and was first held on 16 June 1991 at the National Stadium. From its humble beginnings, the Big Walk grew to become one of the largest mass walking events in Singapore, and was officially recognised as The World’s Largest Walk by the Guinness Book of Records when it celebrated its 10th anniversary #OnThisDay (21 May 2000), with an overwhelming 77,500 participants.
Several editions of the Big Walk followed in the years after: some in collaboration with other partners, or in conjunction with milestone celebrations such as the 50th anniversary of Singapore’s independence in 2015.
For many Singaporeans who participated, this event holds a special place in their hearts. It was a day where people from all walks of life came together to celebrate fitness, camaraderie, and community spirit. Participants have fond memories of lacing up their sneakers and hitting the streets of Singapore, exploring scenic routes and iconic landmarks along the way. It allowed people to come together to celebrate Singapore's multiculturalism and inclusivity.
